Discover the beauty of Southern Italy where next to Naples and Pompeii, you will also see green Calabria and exit in the seaside town of Sorrento and the island of Capri.
Day 1: Naples – Pompei (ca. 30 km)
You will arrive at Naples airport with your own car or rental car and drive along the imposing Vesuvius in the direction of the Sorrentino Peninsula. In Pompeii you will spend the next two nights.
Day 2: Vesuvius (ca. 25 km)
Yesterday you saw Vesuvius, today you will become acquainted. By car you can do part of the volcano climb, but the crater requires some athletic endeavor.
Day 3: Pompeii – Maratea (ca. 190 km)
By highway drive further south to the border of the Basilicata region. Eventually you will come to Maratea, where you will stay three nights.
Day 4: Maratea
A day reserved for Maratea and its environment. Visit Monte Biaggio, which offers spectacular views of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Do not forget to visit the harbor of Maratea, with its many fishing boats. The hotelier would also like to provide you with excursion tips.
Day 5: Scalea in Calabria (ca. 28 km)
Maratea is located on the border with Calabria and is worth a visit. Scalea is a nice fishing village in the far north of Calabria and is definitely worth seeing.
Day 6: Maratea – Matera – Alberobello (ca. 300 km)
Drive to Matera through a landscape of hills covered with olives to reach Alberobello. You can stroll on the “Strada Panoramica dei Sassi”. You can cast a wondering look at the trulli, square, stone buildings with conical roof and white walls. For the next three nights you will stay in such a trullo, which is a unique experience!
Day 7: Alberobello and Ostuni (ca. 32 km)
Take a walk through the highly atmospheric Trulli in the Alberobello district, or visit the white city of Ostuni, Ostuni isn’t nicknamed “Città Bianca” for nothing.
Day 8: Lecce (ca. 116 km)
Lots of Italy’s travellers are surprised that the Salentine peninsula, called the heel of the boot, is so rich with beautiful cities. For example in Lecce, nicknamed the ‘Florence of the Baroque you can see facades of Santa Croce. Throughout the city you will find balconies or pillars topped with statues and frills.
Day 9: Alberobello – Vico Equense (ca. 336 km)
Today you return to Campania, for our goal for today is Vico Equense, located on the Sorrentine Peninsula. Along the way you will discover the north of Puglia. This region is well endowed with beautiful Romanesque churches and castles.
Day 10: Sorrento (ca. 12 km)
Sorrento is one of the most visited resorts in Campania. In the centre, especially in the evening, there is a pleasant crowd.
Day 11: Capri
Today, you can sail to Capri, the boat leaves the harbor next to your hotel.
Day 12: Vico Equense – Naples (approx. 40 km)
From Vico Equense you return to the Naples airport.
